Job Summary |
Chicago State University invites applications for the position of Head Coach, Women's Triathlon This position reports to the Vice President/Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the intercollegiate Women's Triathlon program. |
Job Description |
- Direct and supervise all activities relative to the teaching, training, and skill development of student-athletes in preparation for competition.
- Provide technical skill instruction at practices, conduct individual training sessions, scouting of opponents, and team & individual analysis to aid in growth and skill development of student-athletes.
- Develop and execute practice plans to prepare the team physically and mentally for
competition.
- Assist in student-athlete preparation for games by contributing strategies and aiding in daily preparation of organized and effective practices.
- Conduct individual meetings with student-athletes to provide on-going assessment and aid in the development of their academic, athletic and personal health and well-being
- Set academic goals and monitor academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring student-athletes meet eligibility standards and progress towards a degree benchmarks.
- Inform and direct student-athletes to college academic support resources.
- Collaborate with Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning staff to organize and monitor the physical conditioning of student-athletes.
- Model behavior which supports healthy social, behavioral, emotional, ethical, and intellectual development of student-athletes.
- Establish and maintain team policy and protocol for the triathlon program operations.
- Ensure student-athletes practice good sportsmanship, maintain poise and self-control, and abide by team, athletic department, university, and NCAA policies.
- Maintain CARA in the athletic department recruiting management software system.
- Recruit student-athletes to meet university expectations in support of the college strategic plan and in compliance with CSU, NCAA & USA Triathlon policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage a recruiting strategic plan to build and manage annual roster
- Create a recruiting pool through coaching contacts, attendance of races, hosting prospect/ID camps and any other resources; identification and assessment of student-athletes; recruiting communication and campus visits.
- Work closely with the CSU Compliance Office on all eligibility and compliance procedures for the college, NCAA & USA Triathlon.
- Represent CSU and participate in external events to build campus community and engagement with triathlon program.
- Participate in CSU, USA Triathlon, and NCAA professional development opportunities when appropriate.
- Seeks opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive setting with a willingness to change for continual improvement.
- Maintain and monitor program operations within the framework a balanced budget following CSU expenditure procedures.
- Manage and monitor student-athletic scholarship awards within annual allocation.
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor's Degree
Applicant must have coaching/training experience in swimming, distance and/or cycling. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Master's Degree
Preferred applicants will have experience coaching collegiate triathlon ant hat have USA Triathlon Coach Certification. |

- Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
- Skill in coaching and/or competing as an athlete at the college, university, Elite Club, or Professional level.
- Ability to adhere to and ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations, and ability to lead and nurture a diverse student and administrative population.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to multitask, work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to continuously learn to improve coaching strategy and ability.

Physical Requirement/ Demands |
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- May need to help athletes complete key workouts by providing pacing assistance.
- This position is subject to periods of sitting; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
