Acara Solutions has an opening for a Buyer for Alstom Transportation in Naperville, IL.

Objective:
To support the day-to-day tactical buying activity as it relates to assigned project. The ability to support all projects at any given time. Issuance of RFP to approved suppliers, rectify purchase order issues, handling daily payment, delivery, and invoice issues with assigned supplier base, and maintenance of purchase orders.
* Assist with Negotiations, as needed, with suppliers to achieve and/or improve project budget within
assigned commodities.
* Monitor suppliers to meet quality and delivery requirements.
* Obtain information from functional departments.
* Be involved in Commodity Strategy for regional and global
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Complete and send Request for Quotations (RFQ) to suppliers based on assigned commodities if incomplete forward to management.
  • Collect and assist in the analysis of supplier's proposals within project budget and process purchase orders for B & C items according to set procedures.
  • Administrate and maintain purchase orders and change orders according to procedures.
  • Communicate engineering releases and engineering change notices to suppliers.
  • Coordinate with all departments regarding supplier related issues within assigned commodities including but not limited to Immediate Actions (I. A's) and Over, Short & Damage (O, S & D's) reports
  • Provide information to Senior Buyers and Commodity Managers to keep them informed of any critical issues within assigned commodities, utilizing standard reporting processes and procedures.
  • Participate in Special Projects/assignments as required and/or directed.
  • Assist with expediting delivery of critical parts for Production as required and communicate such to Production Control (PC)/Expeditor.
  • Maintain documented records for both internal and external communications as it relates to commercial issues.
  • Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive and may change, be added to or deleted from any time.
  • Prepare and execute all the contracts with suppliers according to project needs.
  • Training, coach and develop other Buyers as needed
  • Travel as needed
  • Act as manager
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 yrs. Experience in procurement/sourcing environment, Purchasing, Contract management.
  • Cost analysis, Budget commitment, Cost reduction initiatives and negotiations skills.
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook, SAP,
  • Oral Communication - Listens and gets clarification
  • Able to work with tight deadlines - Sense of urgency to process requests
Preferred Skills:
  • College Diploma preferred; Industry Designation preferred.
  • Engineer School is desirable but not mandatory.
